I would like to report that android apps created by jmonkey 3 isn’t support by my phone HTC DNA. This phone just came out and specs quad-core processors, Jellybean 4.1.1, and 2 GB of RAM.
I have ran jmonkey 3 apps successfully on my htc incredible (gingerbread 3.7), htc incredible 4g lte (ICS 4.0.1), and Samsung Galaxy SIII (ICS 4.0.1).
I don’t know if it is just my phone or will this be a problem with future phones having higher specs and os versions. I know JMonkey on Android is lower priority on your development and have issues because it has to support a wide varity of phones, hardware, and os, but I was wondering if this will be a problem now being that new phones comming out will have these specs.
I create a new game project (mygame) and tried running it on my new phone. I have took a segment of the log that Jmonkey captures when running on android in hopes you can diagnose a problem. You can search for ‘exception’, and i think that is where the root of the problem is.
Thanks in advance
Ryan

mhhh…strange.
I’ll have the oportunity to test on a nexus 7 on monday i’ll see if I get the same issue.
have u tried all the examples in the jME Test App on the Play Store?
Those test apps are outdated and one is even out of our reach, somebody put it up and we can’t take it down
This application is outdated anyway, unfortunately the guy that published it left quite some time ago with the keystore…so we can’t update it…
EDIT : Lighting fast Normen
yeh, but one of them should still work fine (not the one larynx did). Maybe we need a new one, which is “Official jMonkeyEngine RC2 Tests” or something
Edit: ← Snail slow
I have tried the jmonkey app on the Google play. I doesn’t work. Its strange because if there is an exception it usually pops up with a stack trace on the phone telling me where the exception is. However on my new phone it launches the app but immediately closes. No error stack trace is being displayed. It is like it can initialize the engine or something.
Wow there is a race happening over here

Yeah, a good way to spend our donation funds would be to purchase a $25 android dev license, with a keystore and all. But there will still be a lot of confusion with the other applications published on google play.
perhaps we can get it taken down for copyright reasons? idk. Else anyone can just put an app on saying “jMonkeyEngine Test App” and theres nothing we can do about it

No you can't since it isn't a copyright infringement. Anyone can use the name jMonkeyEngine until it is a registered trademark - another kettle of fish than copyright.
The best way would simply be as nehon says, get a dev license. Push an "official" demo, keep it updated and try to get us monkeys to install it, basically, SEO it to a higher ranking on google play.
thought so, i assume we still have the guys email, have you guys tried contacting him?
A few tweets/requests that people install the demo and give it a high rating doesn’t seem unreasonable, I’m sure we’d get enough people doing it to push the official one up the rankings.
maybe, but the other one was also meant to do that (as well as provide new functionality), they will all still be on the front page of the results.
This time put a jMonkeyEngine Google Account instead of linking to someone’s else account, then you could solve this problem.

Yes, and entrust someone trustworthy with the keystore.
Erlend ? :D
I’d say put the username and password in the “Core Team” forum so this same problem can’t happen again.
The keystore should also be passed around to the core team so that it can be signed and updated as releases happen (or with the nightly builds, people will love getting all those updates ^^)
Just checking back on this thread. Nehon were you able to run an app created from jmonkey on your nexus 7?
Thanks
Ryan
nope, the Nexus 7 is held in a bunker at work and only authorized people can approach it…
But i’m working on this.
Edit, also i’m planning to buy a Nexus 4…but it’s still out of stock on google play…
