Apparently you cant edit pre-migration posts?

I went in to edit my thread here, to update it with some information. However there was no edit button? After some investigation it seems my recently made posts are editable but not older ones.

Is it possible the new website has some kind of “disable editing after X days” for posts? Could this be turned off?

ok i can’t edit the post i just made… I think what it is actually is that the “development” subforum has editing turned off, but “troubleshooting” has it turned on.

edit: or maybe you just cant edit the initial thread post?, whats going on here?

Do you have this button?

Hmmm, this is indeed problematic. On my Subscriber test account I could not see the “Edit Topic” button in the Dashboard, so the ‘Edit’ button for topics is in fact off-limits to normal users.

Web monkeys, I need you!

I can confirm that the dashboard does not show the “Edit topic” link for me.

same, just a picture of a monkey face.

Note: rereading my post it occurs to me that it might have sounded like I was accusing you of being dumb… quite the contrary, actually… I figured you might not have the button and I wanted to be 100% clear about where it was supposed to be.

Edit: plus it took me a few minutes to find it the first time and I actually have the button.

hah, no worries. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

atleast we know what the issue is now.

Any chance that this is being fixed soon-ish?
'cause I want to edit my Monkeyblaster post and can’t.
I’m just wondering whether I should use a workaround, or just wait another day.

I’ve lit the Monkey Signal ablaze in the skye. Now all we can do is wait.

… okay there’s actually a very easy workaround for the time being. Just append /edit/ to your topic’s URL. So for instance if I want to edit this topic (It’s not my topic, but I’m admin, mwuhah) I’ll just type http://hub.jmonkeyengine.org/forum/topic/apparently-you-cant-edit-pre-migration-posts/edit/ into my browser and presto!

Thanks, that’s working beautifully.

(uhm… even its outside but nvm… reply and topic different. Looking into it.)

I put edit links to topic & threaded replies. Sending you updated theme version
