Best GUI to use?

Hi,

New to jME and the community

For my game I want to have some buttons, text boxes, check boxes, and other standard GUI widgets. Whats the best way to do this? I don't need any fancy 3D menus, some plain 2d ones are fine  I just want the easiest solution! Thanks

the most easy solution is to use the jmeDesktop class, which enables you to just render some swing components as 2D or 3D.

Therefore check the jmetest.awt.swingui.HelloJmeDesktop.java

Try to avoid JMEDesktop. Try GBUI. I think it's the best option.

If you want to be able start building your GUI right away, I would recommend GBUI also.  I had compatibility issues with FengGui two weeks ago and I've been using jMe a little more than a month now.  I still have to try jME Desktop and Swing so I can't comment on those  XD

Good to know.  I did the HUD tutorial last week with quads.  What's your opinion on quads vs gbui?

I'm biased, but then I'm the GBUI PM.

I have no current opinion on JMEDesktop, FengGUI, etc since I've not used them in about 2 years or more now since taking over GBUI.

If you have a question about GBUI feel free to ask.
