CharacterControl acts weird on falling

When a CharacterControl falls, it’s much too fast. Jumping is perfect, but no matter what I set the fall speed to, my CharacterControl always moves very quickly and at a constant speed downwards if I don’t jump. If I jump off of an object, the fall speed is right. However, if I walk off of it it’s very fast and constant. Is there a way to fix this?

Use a smaller step height
