Thought I would like to share a project with you which I technically lead
http://www.skapeworld.com/
Play the video to see it, unfortunately unless you want to pay lots of Money you wont be able to actually use the client for real.
The quality of the video is stunning. Is that all using JME?
The detail in the buildings and textures is very impressive, credit to whoever made them.

If you want to write a mention about this project I'd be happy to put it on the jME blog as a spotlight post. (couple typos in your post btw)
Heh, I will get in touch with Infoterra to check on what im not allowed to say first.

Do you mean it is based on / interacts with Google Earth somehow, or just that it is a similar concept?
Yes, just a similar concept with many other features too.
impressive
just out of curiosity… how accurate is the building data in remote regions… like, i don't know… some northern sea island for instance? ^^
First, congratulations are in order for such a great accomplishment :) As someone currently working on a jME/GIS driven project I know how much 'fun' this can be at times…

It is incredibly accurate for where data is collected. Only major UK cities are currently covered with the 3d layers, more will be added when demand dictates. Mapping layers and heighted data is available though for the majority of the UK.

I have moved on to something else now.
Being part of Astrium it is ISO 9000 compliant ( Quality certification ) , it is a live product being used by local authorities, defense and architects ...

Defense.. we have to add a military or paramilitary exception to the jme license, imagine we're the reason that the US bombs out another milk powder factory ;P
heh, not my problem now ;p
Yet I always dreamed about jME being used in the military for GPS, mapping and simulation… Is it just me?
I suppose its the most romantic use of it…
