What do you think about collecting blogs that are written by people who use jme to develop a game?
In my eyes it would a quite useful thing to be able to follow these projects directly from this page.
Yes, we have the projects board. But there are just few details about the development-process itself. But some have an own blog for such "developer diaries". So give them a possibility to make an entry in a new developer blogs section, maybe right under the existing "blog" section.
We've thought about it, thanks for chiming in I have a friend making us a Joomla! template out of what is currently a static php design for the front page.
We're aiming to have our front page powered by Joomla! by the end of February. With Joomla! in place, this means we'll have the freedom to easily construct sections like the one you're describing, without a lot of time-consuming custom work.
If you have any other ideas for the site, do please bring'em
Finally this site gets joomla Very well!
Maybe we could even go a step further by setting up a section for projects on the main page. Basically we have it in the forums but it would be easier to find on the main page. And there we could integrate a link to the blog of each project if it has one. Combined with filtering everyone interested in would be able to find developer blogs
Way ahead of ya Turns out it’s a lot of work though. Well, a lot of work, or $100+ greens. I’m leaning towards the workload alternative, as this might hopefully garner some benefits in that I’ll know the system in and out.
I’ve been looking through all kinds of CCKs (Content Creation Kits) for Joomla!, and seem to have finally found the right one in jSeblod. Setting it up is a little corky, but it is extremely flexible, and integrates seamlessly with all of Joomla!'s core features, and other extensions for that matter, which is what separates it from the competition.
I’ll set you up with a tester account once we start testing the new template. I received the final package just hours ago, so hopefully by tomorrow we’ll have some tests going
If you need an extra pair of hands with any of the Joomla work give me a shout, I'm quite familiar with it.
Okay lads, get your testing on:

Not a whole lot can be done in terms of looks until we have a designer on board, so it'll be mostly just looking for things that are broke. Also, currently the footer won't accept content, so until then I've thrown all its feeds into the right column.
@Alric: How far does your Joomla! competence go? Up to administrative tasks, or further into some coding?
The team is already participating in QA. One major job left for me to do is to piece together a proper project listing/submission pipeline. Might just launch the website first, we'll see. With the launch we might have a couple other webby treats to go along with it, but no promises
Alric said:Awesome, thanks, I'll almost positively hit you up on that ;)

I would like to help but unfortunately I'm quite busy writing exams and learning at the moment. But in about one week I could help doing some little design tasks. Some months ago a design a homepage called http://www.svendefinn.de/ . I'm not that kind of artists but I really like making concepts and supporting community by making developement easier.

I dig the site but theres not much to test right now is there? :)
P.S. I like the PDF function, will that be compatible with the wiki as well? Because static PDF's as documentation are always a bit prone to getting outdated..

Pretty much anything, time permitting. I've developed complete sites with from-scratch templates and custom modules etc.
normen said:Well, no, not much beyond just checking broken links and such, and that ain't finalized yet anyhow.

Soon there'll be a major feature to test though, namely project submission. There's a problem with the template however that brakes some essential JS functionality, so I'll hold off the logininfo for publishers until that's fixed.

Alric said:Excellent. I am able to handle all of the administrative-end work myself, but I'm at a loss with things like the JS incompatibility mentioned above. If my affiliate webdev becomes too busy, I'll let you have a crack at the problem.

JS conflict fixed: Caused by jQuery being needlessly included in the template.
Projects listing is now up for testing.

You'll find the 'submit project' link down to the right, as well as a list of your submitted articles. Submit to your heart's desire. Give me any feedback you'd like regarding the submission process, the layout of the project page, the project fields etc.
I'm going to find out whether it is possible to combine this CCK component with some of the cooler media extensions. Especially easier embedding of video would be very handy (though I believe you could just embed it into the description) and better image management, particularly the tedious manual thumbnails…
