I’m in the process of migrating to a new server for my projects and e-mail and am contemplating moving from SMF (http://forum.captiveimagination.com) to Google Groups instead. Do any of you all have much experience with Google Groups that can give me some criticism of it in comparison to SMF? On first inspection it seems much less configurable and intuitive, but I’ve been using SMF so long I’m not sure if it’s just lack of understanding.
Any insights would be really appreciated.
Does a lack of response show lack of use of Google Groups to give a reply, or simply lack of interest in responding?
Well just to give you some response - I have never used Google Groups for anything really… But I have happened on their pages often enough when searching for info… And it has always irritated me. I have never seen anything on there that comes even close to the comfort and user-friendlyness of SMF or PHPBB. Its just like a bunch of mailinglists and a frontend to reading them.
Don't fix what aint broken… especially with google-groups

I second that.
Thanks guys, that's what I was wanting to confirm. I didn't want to make a judgment based on my perception alone.
