Help identifying their shadow technique

stumbled across this hobbyproject and some screenshots…can’t really figure out their shadow technique…soft shadows implies shadowmaps, but shadowmaps don’t provide that level of selfshadowing seen in the shots…unfortunately there’s no playable demo or anything about it on the forums so and i can’t tell if it’s prerendered or something…but they say it’s realtime dynamic shadows…

duh…i had projected texture shadows in mind when posting this…real shadowmaps kan selfshadow offcourse sigh



but still, they look awfully highres…

They do…is it possible they just did some high-resolution renderings and that's better than what the actual in-game screenshots would be?  I've heard of people doing that…
