That is true.
What are the exact problems you were facing? I remember helping someone to do it but they never really heeded (or understood) my advice. Instead tried something else changing the whole scenario and new questions just arose (while true do). Maybe open up a new topic for that?
SDK has lately gotten some new PRs, not just bug fixes but actual features as well. So there is hope yet. It has not been completely abandoned.
