I haven't spent much time reading about game physics, but I'm wondering if I can use the jME physics engine to create a hovercraft class vehicles?

Also, I'm reading the javadocs on the physics engine, it doesn't seem to very large. It has 1 abstract Vehicle class that seems to be intended for wheeled vehicles, and the class Car. Will this library try to support more types of vehicles in the future?

I can think of few types:

  • Helicopters
  • TrackedVehicles (tanks)
  • Hovercrafts
  • Spaceships
  • Air planes
  • Motorbikes

Or is it the intention of this library not to provide functionality for specific vehicles?

There is no Vehicle class in jME Physics 2 any more. And I don't think there will be such a class (or similar) in the future. This is because it heavily depends on the kind of game you are making, what would be needed to simulate e.g. a car. You can do all those vehicle with the jME Physics 2 library, though.

I could imagine having some demos in there for such things. But I won't have the time to code them. When you get around to implementing some of these ideas…
