Is there any way to reduce the triangle count for terrain blocks or pages? I don't really need a super high-res, swanky looking terrain. As long as it doesn't look like something from 1990 I think I'd be happy. I don't see any parameters I can set.

reduce the number of points in the height map, then up the scale - should do the same thing
I was hoping to avoid someting like that, as won't it be confusing if someone creates a heightmap in another program, which when loaded in my game, looks nothing like the original due to scaling etc? Or am I misunderstanding something?
if you use uniform scale it would look exactly the same.
