I was toying on the monkanim branch, with the hardware skinning tests and experimented to instead of cloning the whole model with its control and armature, to only clone the geometry below the node holding the skinningControl.
I managed to have 3600 models animated on screen at 60fps
The idea is to have only one armature for each different animation (here 4) and only clone the geometry.
So instead of having 3600 armature update per frame we have only 4.
Before doing this I was barely able to display 1600 models a 60fps.
Note that this is not because of monkanim…it’s something we can already do with the current system
