I say that you finish up the pdogroup stuff and i'll make the md5 work again.
This all sounds like a good idea, but make sure you don't alter the base .jme xml schema (not that there is really such a thing ATM), but extend it such that your additions are optional, as they make use of features not part of the base modeling package.
That's been my plan.
