now that SWT 3.2 officially supports LWJGL (http://www.eclipse.org/swt/opengl/), is there any “sufficiently clean” way to use jME in an SWT application? The last info on this I could find on this board dates back to 2004, so has there been some notable development? I’m currently looking for an engine to use in a university project and would prefer doing the basic user interface in SWT, using jME just for display.

Take a look at the MonkeyWorld3D project. Do a search for it here and you'll find some info and a link to it. I believe that uses jME in SWT. It's been available long before 3.2. :-p
