Hi Im on Ubuntu 12.04 and install Java SDK and then jMonkey. Everything is fine until I Create a the project with jMonkey.

In the Proyect Tab it doesnt appear, the project I created but if I go to Favorites the project is there. I select then and I cant run it.

jME works in linux (I run it in Debian all the time). It sounds more like your project is broken. Exactly how did you create the project?

What happens if you go to File->New project. Select jME3->BasicGame. Does that project also have errors?

You have to install the ORACLE JDK, NOT THE OPENJDK.

I don't know how the OpenJDK still exists. I know they have contributed a lot to the Java world, even Sun/Oracle used some of his ideas/solutions, but most softwares I see doesn't work on it.

i used opejdk + ubuntu 11.10. Worked ok.

Now i use java-sun + ubuntu 12.04. works ok too.

Possibly he has no installed java at all…

Also, try to switch desktop effects off.

There, again @nehon, life’s a bitch and I get the thumbdowns

If there wasn't JDK installed it wouldn't actually get to install the JMP.

I just installed the JMP on Ubuntu 12.4 last night no issues.
I will go over what worked for me.

Install the JDK
[patch]
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flexiondotorg/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk sun-java6-plugin
[/patch]

Install the JMP
[patch]
cd Downloads
chmod +x jME3_SDK_Beta-linux.sh
sudo ./jME3_SDK_Beta-linux.sh
[/patch]

After I updated to the latest stable version I selected the project folder during the primary install Home/username/Documents/jMonkey this created the project folder under the root user.

EDIT
This should switch the owner of the folder back to you.

[patch]
cd Documents
sudo chown -r root:username jMonkey
[/patch]
"I might have the last command backward":D

Hope this helps man man

@ignacionieto I should have just asked if your project folder was locked.

When you uninstall jmonkey, delete the .jme3 and .jmonkeyplatform in your home folder also.

Then try reinstalling it.

Hope it helps.

Sorry for the delay it was end of the semester here nd a lot of work to do

remove all of java version (use synaptic)

write on terminal

sudo apt-get openjdk-6-jdk

dowload JME3 install script
