Limit fps or use another Update thread

Hey, my friend and I wrote a game using a GameState and attaching it to a SimpleGame. This is JME2. The problem is the ball moves a lot faster in a lower resolution due to a higher FPS. My question is, can we limit the FPS or use a different Update method / thread that doesn't go so fast or completely rely on the FPS.

Multiply the movement by the time per frame, and it should move at the same speed.
