I have installed it correctly, but dispite my efforts, I can’t get it to do ANY THING. The most action I’ve gotten out of this is a black screen. I have more goals in a game than to play BlackBox unleashed :D.
Any ways, I’ll upload a video later of my problem.
Basically I’m just trying to just get the grid lines to show up, like in this picture in the tutorial:
Also when I go through the “Add…” part it doesn’t show up the white bumpy hills.

Edit, I’ve downloaded an earlier version and it shows up. But it’s SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO laggy, my computer isn’t lagging at all, but the editor part is… I’m running Windows Vista. That could be why, but you can hardly do any thing because it takes 5 minutes to move your scene up just a tiny bit.
basixs, and nymon are very helpful to new members!
HAHAHA
(flattery will get you everywhere :D)
Although in this case I regret to say I know next to nothing about MonkeyWorld (except that its pretty sweet), hopefully Vardamir will be on soon (he is also a very helpful soul :)).

Lol, it's true though, you and him are the only people who have helped me so far, without you I don't think I would've made this kind of progress.
Yeah I hope he comes on, I searched the forum and it seems some Linux users have had the same issue. I'm a windows user though, and haven't heard any thing from those.
Oh, you're using 4.1
Well, i don't want to sound to negative about our little project, but 4.1 has some "problems". I'd suggest you give 4.2 a try (not promising you won't have a problem though…)

I thought that was the one I downloaded LOL. It's not the one with the installer.
But any idea why it's so laggy? Also, that picture isn't the version I'm using. That's actually a picture from the tutorial on how to make a base terrain (Hill), that's what they do in the next step. But when it finally shows up, it takes SOOOOO long to move the camera any where. I'm running Windows Vista, that could be why. And I'm pretty sure I downloaded 4.2, but for some odd reason it still says 4.1 at the top. Here is where I downloaded it from:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=144749&package_id=298418&release_id=639217
I also downloaded the swt jar file and put it in the 'plugins' directory.

There is a video on what I'm trying to say.
There is a known issue with LWJGL on Vista, afaik, i have seen it beeing very slow under Vista, but unfortunatly (no, no intentionally) i don't have any Windows OS anywhere, so i can't reproduce it. The guys from Rififdi also noticed some Vista issues with jME, but pflanzenmorder was not able to reproduce them on several machines.
A good solution would be anyways to use Linux (have you ever thought about a dual boot solution?)
But i know, this isnt really a solution.

Would Linux work on a Windows?

Yes. Even easier than dual boot is VM. Download Sun's Virtual Box and the install the latest version on Ubuntu Linux on it. I did this a couple weeks ago, its super easy and runs really well.

Okay thanks so much!
But explain to me what I'm downloading because it's a 11 hour download...
Also do I download a Linux box or what?
Virtual Box: Virtualization software that enables running an OS inside an 'emulated' hardware platform, basically you have Windows as your real OS and you have the virtualization software which running Linux (so basically you have two operating systems side by side).
Ubuntu Linux: Operating system based on the Linux kernel.
Basically you will need both of those pieces of software, first install Virtual Box then run it and install Linux 'inside' of it…

Alright, I understand what it is, but do I download the Windows box or Linux? Does it mean box for Linux or Linux box?
You want to download the windows version, since you will be running it on windows.
Alright I downloaded it, but when I try to run the machine it pops up a black window after I click "Power on" and says:
FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted.
Now it says:
No bootable medium found! System halted.

I'm not sure, how would I know it's installed. I remember during the installation it said something about installing the linux.
Try following this guide: http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/articles/using_virtualbox_to_run_ubuntu
what so we can not dev jme on vista?
some folks are having issues with Vista (what problems with a M$ product, no WAY!) hehe
and this is simply an option to get one up and running until the issue is resolved…
(issue is with Vista and LWJGL, not jME and Vista)
But I believe there are many jME users that are working on Vista, its just a select few having issues.
In this case its a problem w/ the Hardware AND Software, so who's to blame? LWJGL or your video card manufacturer?
(heck maybe neither…).
Anyways, I am sure that the folks at LWJGL (and/or MonkeyWorld3D) will have this sorted soon (although I don't know if that soon enough for you).
