does work well with IE7/8 the menus fall behind the black square in the slide show and IE don't display the as being transparent…only realized because we are force to use it in the office
IE is deprecated
You should see how rough it looks on the Windows Mobile version of IE! In any event, we know there are some formatting issues with the new Joomla! front end… Erlend's still struggling with configuration and unfortunately has a time constraint the next week or two
Gotta admit, the website is our definite weak spot. I wanted to deploy Joomla!, which I have a fair bit of administrative experience with (which suffices to make some pretty extensive changes), since we've got no dedicated web developer to attend to these matters. Frankly there's quite little I can do, since the jME-template was made by an affiliate of mine, and I don't have the time nor interest to start learning HTML, CSS and JS to attend to these issues
I actually went to some freelance sites checking if someone could be willing to work out a couple optimizations for our web template, but the price range is too high. Later when I have more time I might experiment with a more standards compliant template. If someone knows a web developer who could be interested in lending a hand, gimme a shout.

Haha maybe for developers, but for the rest of our dumb world it's still being used. http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/03/internet-explorer-market-share-falls-below-60-percent-for-first/
Nice to see the screenshot from my first watertests from 2006

Figure out how to convert people - > JPEG and then your body, reputation, and bank account will be very stable for a very long time :D
I still think its one of the better piece of jME demo to come along just because its 'shot' so well. The scene is very photogenic. If it take a screen of my current work you see lots of buildings covered by lots of FengGUI [and no water] :(
So forgetting for a while that we're all aging rapidly; moving back to the issue of lacking site design.
I have a capable freelance developer willing to properly optimize our Joomla! site, for the price of $100. I was willing to stretch myself to $50 out of my own pocket, but $100 is a bit steep. Those who feel strongly about this optimization can send me a PM about how much you're willing to donate (I suggest $20 per person). I'll take your word for it and make sure our business with the freelancer is over and done with before I ask for any compensation (paypal).
Honestly, I've looked into doing this myself, but the template practices just aren't consistent enough, and addition of php into the css/html/js mix is too much for me, sorry. I spend my time much more effectively managing public relations.
Btw, opening a new window when clicking a topic on the frontpage sux… Totally destroys my jme forum workflow

Good we have Tapatalk support now ;) Now I just need that iPad.. :D
You know that after you make a selection on the main jme page, the layout stops being the "new" one and becomes the old. For example the wiki pages.
Momoko_Fan said:Yes, unfortunately we don't have the resources right now to update the the forum and wiki (and blog) as well. The best thing would be to run it all through one all-encompassing platform. I have been assessing our options for some time, and BuddyPress is by far the strongest contender. Still far off though; there's not even a conversion script available yet which we'd require to move SMF without loosing all our precious threads.

I don't get round these parts as much as I'd like to these days, but I have to say I have some issues with the new front page. Mainly its the reduction of the "Latest posts" section to just 5 lines. The forum is the community and yet its given such a small showing here. Yes its easy to dive into the full forum, but its a time sucker, and from personal experience I know that on the few occasions I could offer help, it was primarily because I saw a question on the front page that I thought I could help with. Its only on the (increasingly more rare) occasions I have spare time that I would actually look thru the forums and read each issue with the intention of trying to be helpful.
The twitter section gets 3 times as much space as the forum section and yet at the time of writing this the last 3 entries are 3, 5 and 5 days ago, and none of them have anything to say that isn't already on the 'frontpage elsewhere. This seems like a waste of space to me, and I'd much rather see that section removed or reduced to just a link, and the forum list expanded to fill where it was - maybe thats just me tho. . .
Totally agree,…actually I go directly to the forum. The new frontpage is for me more a really nice eye-catcher for new people (what is perfectly ok in my oppinion).

The site will be completely overhauled and moved to wordpress. This joomla attempt was a failed one and we are working on making the site a better community platform overall, look at this thread or at the experiment site here.
