crazybump was actually free until a few months ago. unfortunately the damn thing requires an internet connection to work i think. so even the version from back then wont work anymore 
Whats so cool about it anyway? Doesn't it just generate normal/spec maps from diffuse? There a lot of tools & plugins for that on the net…

I heard that crazybump is largely used on commercial software houses.
