Performance comparisons

I'm currently experiencing performance problems and testing different things. Now that it's better I'm wondering what I can expect from jME, Java and lwjgl.



What about composing a list of what can be achieved? I think of a table with details like: scene graph stats, hardware specs, graphic setup, used techniques (shader, …) and a screenshot.



Do you think the details would suffice to make the results comparable? That means can give a rough number to see if the current frame rate is bad/medium/good/excellent.


I think such a list would be interesting, but hard to make useful.  So many hardware related things can affect your fps that narrowing it down to only software to provide a meaningful written benchmark for everyone to use would be next to impossible.  Instead I would suggest well written tests you can personally run on your system to do the comparison against.
