I don’t think I’ve got the best computer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Specifications:

OS: Windows 7 x64

Processor: Intel i7 2600k Sandy Bridge (32 nm)

Watercooled CPU

Graphics #1: nVidia GeForce GTX 480 1.5GB DDR5

Graphics #2: nVidia GeForce GTX 260 (only for PhysX)

RAM: G-Skill 4x 4GB DDR3 (PC3-10700 (667 Mhz). I didn’t buy faster because the performance gain didn’t justify it)

Harddrives: 4 physical (5 partitions) for a total of ~3 TB

No SSD as size and durability isn’t worth it for me.

LCD Monitors:

1 - LG W2343 23" 1080p (1920x1080)

2 - Samsung 3D SyncMaster 2233RZ (1680x1050) up to 120 Hz refresh (for 3D)

3 - Cheapo ACER (not connected since there’s no place on my desk for it )

4 - Viewsonic 23" (but this one I think is broken beyond repair).

Goodies… Too many to mention except for nVidia 3D, webcam, 2x USB 3.0, 10x USB 2.0

I don’t think I’ve forgotten anything.

The only thing noteworthy is the parts I bought at the time were either pre-ordered or I got when they started selling. So, the system is a bit over a year old except for the HDs. Only 1 is very new, 1 is about the same age and the computer and the rest is old stuff that I will remove eventually.

If I had a Mac I'd give my specs that way too. Nobody wants the confirmation that +75% of the stuff in that thing is "PC parts". ;)

Just like nobody figured out why with the same parts no PC manufacturer manages to get it right out of the factory ;)

That’s why I buy parts myself and build my computers.

^^ Yeah, exactly my point. When my last MacBook died on the plane travel it took me about 3 hours to get back to work: Get out of the plane, buy a new MacBook ("the large one please"), restore the TimeMachine backup and go on. :P I just can't do that with a PC

Win7 64 bit

Intel Xeon E3 1230 @ 3.20 GHz (4 Physical Cores with Hyperthreading)

4x4 DDR3-1600 RAM

MSI N560GTX-448 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC with GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores, 1.25GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, Mini-HDMI

1 TB of Harddrive. Planned to be supported by a SSD soon.

2x HP Pavilion 2311x 59,6 cm (23,5 Zoll) LED Monitor (VGA, DVI, HDMI, 5ms Reaktionszeit)

A BDR Drive.

OS: OpenSuSE Linux 11.3 (too lazy to update)

RAM: 4GB

GPU: nVidia GeForce 9600GT

CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q9450 @2.86GHz

HDD: 40GB WD Caviar (don’t remember exact model) - my 1TB one has burned.

SD/MMC/SM/CF/CFII/MS/MS Duo card reader.

I don’t need fancy equipment so I can move windows around screen smoothly. On windows, I probably would have to change GPU, CPU, increase ram by 500% and buy additional GPU for SLI so Aero wouldn’t baffle.

Actually you use the windows of the linux world with suse. (other distributions are far faster, i for myself prefer for exmaple xfce over the heavy weight desktop managers most distributions use.)

Well, Ubuntu is more of Linux Windows than SuSE. And I am running even more lightweight environment than you - pure X Windows + X Term + Metacity for window decorations. Beat me on that one!

Name: “BrutalBaby” ( Its a laptop - and it’s name is a bit misleading… )

OS: Windows 7 64bit

CPU: i5 M450 @ 2.4Ghz

Graphics: GeForce GT 325M

RAM: 4 Gig

HHD: 500 Mb

Main Screen: 1366x768 - 15"

External Screen: 1400 x 1050 - 18"

Note: Broken keyboard that occasionally starts spamming Page Down.

I hate working on laptops, but since I live abroad ( on my 2nd year ) I don’t want to invest in a new desktop PC, that I wont ship home when I go. It can run Skyrim, in a resolution that makes it look like Minecraft - until the graphics card overheats, about 2 mins in… It is miserable… At least I have chicken. :frowning:
