I just installed Ubuntu (8,04) a few days ago (I come from windows, so I'm pretty much completely new to linux). Setting up eclipse and jme worked fine, but running any of the samples give some pretty bad flickering issues where the windows below show through. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?

maybe its an issue with compiz / beryl if its active at all.
do other opengl games/apps work fine ?
Yep, the flickering turned out to be caused by compiz. I probably should have searched a bit more before I posted (I just assumed that it was jme specific problem without trying any other opengl apps first :|). Anyways, thanks for the quick and helpful reply!
