[SOLVED| Normal map with j3o object

I’m trying to get a normal map to work with the material editor… when i convert a simple .blend file (a sphere) to a j3o, and use a just a diffuse map, the material looks fine… but when i add a normal map… the object is all black, Do i need to do something else to get a normal mapped material to work?

here is the j3m file the editor made with the normal map (just a diffuse works fine, with normal map does not)

[java]Material rock : Common/MatDefs/Light/Lighting.j3md {

MaterialParameters {

DiffuseMap : Repeat Materials/Rock.PNG

NormalMap : Repeat Materials/Rock_normal.png

}

AdditionalRenderState {

}

}

[/java]

(Solved) you must generate tangents in order to use a normal map… i did this by opening the scene explored for the modelmodel right clicking on geometry in the little scene explorer window >Tools>generate tangents

Can you show the normal map? maybee it is the problem.

its in the jme-test-data library Texture/Terrain/Rock I moved it into my assetPack for ease of use

you have to generate the tangents.

right click on the model in explorer view, there is something like Tools/Generate tangents
