It depends on the graphics card - I have two:
My PCI bus one runs the demo at 42fps without shadows and 31-32fps with shadows from two light sources (note that 5 of the objects are balls which create complex volume geometry).
On my AGP card I get 95fps no shadows and 89fps with them.
