Trouble with Particles

Hello, I’m a little new to JME, and I’m working with some existing code, so its hard to inform my question, but I’ll do my best. I have created some particle effects in RenParticleEditor, saved them as a .jme file, and successfully loaded the effects and rendered them within a simple game based on the following code: http://www.cs.miami.edu/60_Courses/75_UG_Project_Archives/_20082_CSC329_Group5/LuxGame/jme/src/jmetest/TutorialGuide/HelloSimpleGame.java

Here’s how it looks in the simple project: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30307354@N02/3488552681/

I then moved the code into another project, and I get this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30307354@N02/3488501227/

Any idea what’s causing this? I made sure the speed was still positive, and I even tried scaling the speed with no effect. My current theory is that it has something to do with the what’s being culled from the view, since I’ve had trouble with objects not appearing in the scene that are in view before (near is 1.0, far is 100000).

are you sure you're updating the geometric state for the particles in the second project?

To me it looks like your particles are not getting any lift/upward-momentum.  I don't use the renPaticleEditor and loading particles from .jme files, but since this seems like a basic particle effect I would suggest that you set it up by hand and transfer all the settings into the code.  It will be easier to determine what the problem is once you do that.
