Two day game challenge

Hey all

Just thought I'd share this with you. I think it's a good example f what can be achieved very quickly with the jME.

I was recently given the challenge of writing a game over a weekend from Friday night. It was part of an interview process for a job (which I didn't get ! Argh). However, despite not getting the job, I was very impressed with what I was able to achieve with the jME in such a short space of time.

Anyway, here it is (including the details of the challenge, and the rules of the game):

(the build is probably only Windows OS I'm afraid … sorry).

Maybe you'll think it's pretty poor and I know for a fact that there's a whole bunch of you who could do a lot better, but I thought I'd share  If nothing else, it's really solidified for me what an excellent engine the jME truly is.

I'm more interested in what job you were applying for - what kind of place asks you to go home over the weekend and come back with a game?!  While I think it's a little cruel and unusual, I also think it kicks ass

Can you say where it was for?

I'd better not … just incase they change their minds

I would also add that if this place expects you to be cranking out well balanced and fun games in a 2 day period for an interview (and, not to mention, all by yourself), what do you think they're going to expect of you when/if you begin working for them? Such a job may not be worth ANY payment in my opinion. I've worked the modern day sweat-shops, and let me tell you, it's not fun… they take everything you love about doing the job and drain it right out of you.

Sound harsh? Yeah, maybe. There are still good places to work, but from what I've heard so far, this place you applied for probably isn't one of them.

Don't worry about that guys. That's not the point. Believe me, this is a respected company and speed to prototype was part of the job spec. This is more about what can be achieved with the jME is a relatively short space of time.

The game is quite cool. Even cooler for two days work! Why didn't they hire you?

Grrr i hate the game !  lost two times already !!

hehe no its really cool, its really awsome for 2 days work.

I wonder what other guys came up with in two days, if they liked their game better than yours.

Amazing…quite an achievement!

Oh, ok then.... hopping off of my soap box....

Still, good work on what you've done!  :D
