Unable to update?

Haven’t been able to update jMonkeyEngine at all for the past few days now. Is it just me? It hangs at 0-1% and eventually pops out “Unable to connect to update center” or something like that. It worked just fine before, I’ve checked firewalls and everything and seemingly nothing is blocking it.

Also, I don’t want to make extra threads so I’ll ask here. Where the heck do I find the terrain editor? My client looks nothing like the one in the Alpha4 video even though it is the alpha 4 and I cannot for the life of me find it.

Thanks for any replies. New to this monkeybusiness

Which updates are you subscribed to? Like stable, nightlies etc.

Just make a screenshot or make a list.

jMonkeyPlatform Core jME3 (0.8.0.7024 → 0.8.0.7059)

Project jME3 (0.8.0.7024 → 0.8.0.7059)

Neither will update from the current (shown) version to the newest (shown) version. Both just stall while trying to download. I was able to get all other updates to install as long as these two were not selected.

Same here.

On a fresh install.

Nothing? Or did I miss the solution?

The cake is a lie.

Yup yup, more updates piling up now and still cannot update anything…

I went to http://jmonkeyengine.com/nightly/ and now I am trying to download it directly from website. The downloadspeed is about an average of 10-20 KB/s on the file that is ~69 MB.

In other words, I believe that it is some problem server side.

Anyone else have this slow speed trying to download directly from the website?

I was not aware of that website, but I just went ahead and tried to DL the latest nightly 69.4mb and it is not downloading at all pretty much. The speed is measured in bytes per second, not kilobytes.

So, yeah. It looks like there is some problem serverwise

At least I’m not the only one… I just downloaded the SDK a few hours ago. Unfortunately it seems tests will not compile without updating, so I’m a bit stuck until this is resolved. I also tried the same thing as lohnn to the same result. Has this really been going on for over a week? :frowning: Hopefully it’s fixed soon.

I haven’t been able to update for a couple of weeks, not just one, don’t know how many thou.

It is kinda annoying to not be able to update, especially since it have been working almost flawless until the problems started to show up

i am having the same issue here. i am located on east coast US. it has been over a week since i could successfully update the nightlys through jMonkeyPlatform. waiting on a possibly slow download doesnt work because i get an error about being unable to connect to the update server. i am also not able to install any new plugins either.

is there any info regarding when updating will work smoothly again using the jMP?

I gave up trying to download one nightly build some days ago via firefox download because the download was so slow that it finished after like 170Kb, I don’t remember the status it had but it wasn’t downloading anymore even though the entire file’s size was some tens of megs, that is why I went straight for the svn on googlecode, I think both hub.jmonkeyengine.org and .com are using the same bandwidth since both are real slow to load for me (the .com is slow/impossible to download anything from, and the .org loads any pages very slowly sometimes even aborts altogether and I do a refresh to load it 'cause it’s just blank and transferring stopped)

I was thinking that maybe they need a mirror or something and I was going to offer but if it were that simple  like a torrent or something, I’d be happy to lend some bandwidth (PM me if anything, there’s some xyMbps up)

There was another thread about the same problem in jMonkeyPlatform forum.

It may be useful, although I still have some doubts:

http://hub.jmonkeyengine.org/groups/jmonkeyplatform/forum/topic/jmonkeyplattform-autoupdate-doesnt-work/

It actually seems like I can update right now! Perhaps the problem is solved!

Is it the same way for you guys?

yeah! I can update slowly, but it doesn’t get stuck apparently

thanks!

I’m also having problems with the updater. I get stuck when the plugin installer is at the “Please wait until the installer discovers plugins dependencies.”. I’m not sure if its a problem on my side or on the server’s.

What is the recommended way to update manually?

@missingno

Dependency discovery can take a very, very long time depending on the last time you updated. So wait for as long as you can. It can take +5 mins sometimes.
