What is a recommended editor in replacement of the SDK?

Since there is no more SDK, is there a popular text editor / IDE people use instead for their jme games?

I’d like to emphase on the fact that the SDK has been decoupled from the engine release cycle, it didn’t disapear.
For now, all the source are available and you can build it yourself and use it with alpha2.

We’ll make a clear post on what is the vision for future SDK development.

Yea sorry I kinda misspoke. Since the SDK is decoupled, I would prefer to switch to a new editor.

Also, what kind of editor are you referring to or desiring? A scene composer tool, material editor etc. or a Java code editor/compiler/IDE?

Java code editor / IDE.

Basic choices that come to mind are (in alphabetical order)

  • Eclipse
  • IntelliJ IDEA
  • Netbeans

There are more than those if you have a look around but those are the ones I feel are used the most. If you don’t want a steep learning curve then Netbeans is what you want as the SDK was built on top of that. You should feel right at home

Personally I use IntelliJ and it’s by far the best I’ve used out of the three.

I think the IntelliJ is better IDE for java development.
