Why is there no Game Projects Recruitment Forum?

Why is there not Help Wanted or Project Recruitment forum? It seems like coming to these forums that there would be a spot where I could see all the people who are trying to start up game using the engine(Or people who already have projects going but then have a need for more team members).

I've been searching for projects that I could join but I can't seem to find any that are using Jme on others sites(I have found some but they are usually threads that seem like they haven't been alive for awhile). I thought I would be able to come here and find a project to join, but there is no place to find them.

I have looked into the different engines and I really wanna use this one, but it seems hard to find my way into one. it seems it would keep the popularity of this engine higher if there was a place where we could keep track of all the projects. Because I even though I really wanna use this engine I will take joining a team in a different language over not making games.

Well, the Showcase forum kind of does this, projects that have something to show post information and show off what they've done, and maybe recruit folks along the way.

I can't give reasons why a Help Wanted/Recruitment forum is here, but to be honest I've never really been fond of those forums. If you look at some other engine/platforms with a help wanted forum, you see a lot of folks saying they want to make this and that, and they want programmers and artists to do a lot of the grunt work, but they have nothing to show, nothing to impress folks in joining and usually nothing happens.

That's why I like the showcase forum, that way you can show that you're serious, and can actually do something before asking for help. I think that also benefits for those who are looking for a project too, as it would help you find something that's healthy. Though, perhaps having an explicit forum can help? I dunno.

You may want to check out the budding JME community project though.

Oh and welcome

Yes, you could take a look at this, maybe you want to join.

yep, there are a few projects in the user showcase who look for help from time to time.

stardust would like to be a small space game sometime in the future.

Bolidz was looking for help once too.

I suppose if you have nothing to show then one does not deserve to be helped

A project database would indeed be a good thing, LWJGL for example have a list of "projects" on their website you email a dev and they add the project in the list.

Basically what I was going at before.

Anyways, I like the idea of a project database as relying on a forum board to keep track of information is usually a bad idea.

i guess a list of active projects in the wiki would be a good idea.

that way everyone can update it easily.

Way to go, support the community project! I support this idea. Do it.

The problem with such a wiki page of active projects is, that it will only be maintained by active members. When a project gets inactive, it would still be listed on this page, because nobody would remove it.

For that to work, we'd need some kind of review process, where we check all those projects for activity. But that's hard i guess.

Maybe projects could be allowed to make their own page on the website/wiki or something? Just like a brief project summary, with info like number of active members, other projects made advantage of (e.g. MW3D, jME Physics etc.), and vacancies.
