Alternate jME Logo

So here’s my motivate: I want to put a jME logo in some of my work, but I would like something simpler and neater than the current logo. I’m not trying to replace the current logo, I have no issues with it at all, I’m just looking at an alternative.

So this is what I have so far …

I feel it’s a bit cramped, could space around the text a bit better. I guess the eyes could probably be simplified to a single shade of red (I dunno). It reverses out nicely (so white lines on black, eyes always red).

I was looking for some community feedback since I’m no graphic designer :), so please let me know how you think we can make it better.

Cheers

James

Yeah, without the nose I was going to ask what that funny creature was and where the monkey went.

@nehon had one he used that I thought was decent, also based on the head.

If your credits screen is going to be loaded with black and white versions of various logos then I guess the monochromatic version might be ok... but if the other logos are untouched it would be kind of weird to have the graphics engine as the only black and white logo. :)

Oh we forgot to mention, the engine is going 1-bit :)

WRT logo, Paul has a good suggestion about @nehon's logo.. I don't have the link on me now but he had sent around looked pretty good...

Here is what i did

it’s roughly outlined so that it’s still readable at small size

Just curious, isnt that (whyever) already a license issue?

Code:
* * Neither the name of 'jMonkeyEngine' nor the names of its contributors * may be used to endorse or promote products derived from this software * without specific prior written permission.

Or do I interpret this to strong?

So if you have this like in a intor I'm not sure the current license permits it.

The usual rule is that things like “powered by” is fine as it’s an acknowledgement and recognition of the technology you use but not suggesting any endorsement.

“endorsed by” “presented by” “in collaboration with” etc are all bad though.

Skye made a wiki page about what to do and what to not do.
