Change colour of glow map

Is there a way to change the colour of the glow map on a spatial in the code?
Much like how the particle system works where you have a grey scale texture then select what colour it should be.

I am thinking along the lines that I would have to create a custom material definition. although I couldn’t figure how I could do it.
