So in spirit if ttrocha’s initiative with the wiki, I’d like to fire up a real simple melting pot thread for random suggestions. If we do a good job, this will surely find its way to an official guidelines page sooner than later.
Suggest any guideline you’d like to make life easier for helpers/newcomers.
Suggestion for helpers:
After providing a newcomer with general pointers, consider getting these into an existing or new wiki page immediately, followed by linking to it in that same support thread.
Suggestion for newcomers:
Please, oh please, please, please, please make sure you have at least done the following before you implore our obscenely forthcoming and friendly community members for support:
1 - Read the whole beginner’s section on the wiki, along with any relevant article.
// hopefully soon it won’t be that hard to find one’s way around it. Currently, I more than often find myself lost.
2 - Search the forum with some creative search terms. Just a single search is not forgivable!
// I might have an SMF mod on the way that’d improve this situation, though I’ll likely have to pay for it.

So, where excactly can one donate to jME directly?
And to whom does the money would go?
if you post a help! thread and someone's reply helps you out, don't be afraid to edit the wiki if you can make an explanation clearer

Should it become necessary at some point, we'd do some research (I've talked to people at Blender before for instance, they are very helpful) on how to best approach this, and find a suitable trustworthy party, for instance someone's study place might be of service.

For helpers:
Engine programming and game programming are two very different things. Often, game logic essentials works the same way regardless of engine and programming language. You might find people of greater expertise in a more general forum for game programming.
