Imported model from blender ok, nothing appears on SceneComposer

Hello all,

I’m importing my first file from Blender into jME.

The import window seems ok → http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k35/kotoko_san/importScreen.png

The .j3o file is generated but then when I right click and choose “edit in sceneComposer” I get a empty window → http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k35/kotoko_san/emptySceneComposerWindow.png

My intel pentium laptop does not have the processing power to run scene composer, I get empty window in your first screen at preview model even. So perhapss it is a performance issue, it should still work when you run the file/game. (unless running it takes too much power).

If your specs are good then I am not sure what the problem is, posting your computer specs might help get a better answer from more experienced users.

Thanks for the tip!

Here are the specs.

memory: 3.9GiB

processor: Intel Core i5-2400 CPU@3.100GHzx4

Graphics: VESA:102

OS type: 32-bit

Disk: 245.5GB

What is the actual make & model of your GPU?

If nVidia, are you using the nouveau drivers or nVidia’s official ones?

I have a Asus ATI Radeon PCI-E HD6450 Silent 512Mb DOR3

The OpenGL window isn’t started for some reason, check some of the default solutions: https://wiki.jmonkeyengine.org/legacy/doku.php/sdk:troubleshooting If you get warning signs in the lower right click them to see any error stack traces and post them here.

It’s probably what @dolfin said since I can see the model in the running application.

No, its not opened properly, it would just be slow if it was only performance. I wrote this shit, believe me this isn’t right.

Ok, thank you a lot for answering the post!

I went to the wiki page. The drives are the latest but that didn’t make any difference.

I Don’t understand how to do this:

First of all theres the new “OpenGL” settings page in the SDK global settings where you can enable the “heavyweight” canvas, which solved some issues for some people.

Well go to the settings of the application. (Tools->Options on Windows)

It’s a noob question, sorry. I didn’t understood if it was a system setting or a application setting.

Anyway, it now looks like this–> http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k35/kotoko_san/openGLWindowCanvasHeavyweight.png

I think there is still something wrong with it so I’ll keep following the wiki but I’m posting just in case it’s now good and I just need to turn the lights on somewhere (already clicked on the light bulb).

Looks ok, can you see the stats when you press the “i” icon in the top right?

While I was playing around to make it work I noticed that if I turn on the info feature → http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k35/kotoko_san/openGLwindowHeavyweightCanvasWithInfo.png, there are 14 objects even if I can’t see them.

Also with the look and feel in the conf file I don’t have much to run on with.

The result is the link above.

I get the feeling that it’s now working properly but I just don’t know how to add the lights.

Yeah, everything seems to work normally now. Now its just a matter of reading the documentation.

You mean jMonkeyEngine SDK: Importing and Viewing Models doc right?
That's what I'm following.
I meant that where it says (in the Working with the model)

Click the lightbulb to view Materials that require a light source.

Nothing appears (you can see the light bulb unclicked here and clicked here )

Is there another doc I should read?

…you didn’t open any model… double-click the j3o file

Hmm I really did open a model. I tried: double-click, right-click and then “Edit in Scene Composer”, “Edit vehicle” and even “Edit terrain”.

I get nothing but a black screen, ever after I press the light bulb.

Also the window only works if it’s open when I start the jme. So to see a new window I have to:

a) open it the window (when I do this the only thing I see is the old empty window)

b) close jme

c) open jme

If the SceneComposer panel isn’t opened (as in your screens) then no, you didn’t open a model.

Please bear with me, I’m probably no understanding your meaning.

The tab window with the title openGL that appeared on my screen-shots (first gray and then black) window is not the SceneComposer window?

That window opening is all that happens every time I try any of the actions I mentioned (double-click, right-click and then “Edit in SceneComposer”, “Edit vehicle” and even “Edit terrain”)

No, its the one with the title "SceneComposer".
