Yes, well, I do it too on a jme based game logic engine I did, but I think that it is also a quite great feature to let the user control that kind of aspects of a scene when building it. If the scenes are purely static and depending on the complexity it can be the most efficient option.
However, I’m not against the engine feature neither (that’s why I implemented it :P).
