jMP various changes

Hey monkeys, here are some upcoming changes to JMP

View tools

  • You are now able to switch views in the scene composer, terrain editor or vehicle creator (front, left, etc…).

This is handy to be able to place objects accurately on the scene

  • You can now switch from ortho to persp mode. Same purpose, ease of positioning objects

    Persperctive mode

    ortho mode

Also those function are accessible via keyboard shortcuts and are configurable in the netbeans’ key mapping preferences window.

    Particle emitters
  • Some fixes in particle emitters editing in jMP. also you can now emit all the particle at once, with a button in the properties window (for particle emitters like explosions)
  • also you can emit all the particles of all the emitter in the sub nodes hierarchy with a button in the scene composer. this is handy to test effects that have several emitters.

    Texture browser

the texture browse has now a tree view to browse in the assets folders instead of a plain list of all texture files

    Material editor preview

The material editor preview can now display a sphere, a box, or a quad

    Material browser

You can now select your materials with a material browser

Also note that in addition to standard mouse input to rotate and pan the view (left drag rotate, right drag pan) you can now do it blender style ( middle mouse drag rotate, shift middle mouse drag pan) .

    Any feedback apreciated

Atomix, you wanted to contribute all those “easily done” changes to make SceneCompose more like blender?

It’s quite dumb and I repeat it again here my request for a “Apply to selected Mesh” button…

Or plz make a “Load a custom (animated???) mesh” button if somehow it is easier to implements (A cube, sphere and plane is good but not enough for real situation …)

I don’t want to be a complainer here but I just want to say something from an artist POV:

Testing changes must be very fast to keep the perfection and effectiveness of a 3d work, so plz… :stuck_out_tongue:

( from your poor little mouthful artist)

wow all these changes are gonna be really helpful, ty!. Im always using the blender style dragging by accident in the scene composer, and now it will work! awesome :] xD. love all these updates, ty

I don’t really understand what you say @normen

Y_Y But I will keep my mouth shut for a while

@normen LOOOOOL xD

Awesome stuff!

I’ll check it out as soon as the updates are working again

You mean you want to be able to load a custom mesh in the preview?
I don't think it's a good idea, because, it's really a preview, and it's 120x120. With a complex mesh you won't see anything.
However, we are trying to figure out a way to apply material changes to the scene composer in real time. I guess this would cover your request, wouldn't it?

It's not a question of wanting you to shut up. It's a question of saying "Oh this shouldn't be hard to do", or "this is easy to implements", etc. If it's so easy (or even if it's not), instead of asking and demanding, why don't you do it yourself?

With that being said, if you can't do it yourself because of whatever reason, then suggest it once then wait until it's done. No need to nag. I'm sure the team has seen your suggestion and have taken note of it. It will come eventually, but don't forget that there are many many things to be done before hitting beta and those come before every "little things" everyone wants. Me included.

:)

@guys : Asking too much is one of my character so it’s quite understandable for me to get the blame sometime. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m going to be quiet for a while, let the core team take their valuable time for the coming Beta.

@nehon: Yes, the link method is exactly what i want … Thank you to give a try to understand what I want to express …
