Max Avg. Tex Binds

Doing some testing and up to 8 avg. tex binds and seen a pretty noticeable drop in frame rate. What kind of average texture binding amount is reasonable? What would 200 do to the frame rate on a geforce 8600 for example?



Just trying to figure out what the max amount of textures per object i can have. 1 Texture on a house in a first person shooter for example is not enough at 1024x1024. Need about 3 textures.



Using DDS format.

8 textures is nothing. Maybe your performance issue is somewhere else?
