Everyone is comparing almost any game to minecraft, even ones not block based. I'm gonna start comparing every car to Lada Niva, or to be fair to Notch, Toyota Carolla.

I always remember back to the Doom days (Yes, I’m that old.). When Dark Forces came out, I thought it was the coolest thing ever and loved that game. Some of my Doom fanbois friends were all like “Meh, it’s just Doom with lasers.”



A) No, it was so much more than that.



B) “Doom with lasers” describes a pretty f-ing awesome game to me. Why wouldn’t you play that?!?! :slight_smile:

And let’s be clear here… an idea is worth nothing without the means to implement it. It’s not like LucasArts just copied Doom’s source code and ran with it… it was clearly an entirely different engine. I still think some people believe that I’ve stolen something specific other than the idea of a box world. Online, someone even claimed that I got the code directly from Notch and that this person had direct knowledge about the whole thing. WTF? heheh Sometimes the world is unbelievable.



Anyway… glad that release is out. Now to turn to the next one.
