Server Migration, Thursday May 30

just a note, Downloads/Nightly Builds point to http://www.jmonkeyengine.org/nightly/ which gives a 404
i tried http://hub.jmonkeyengine.org/nightly/
and got redirected to http://hub.jmonkeyengine.org/forum/topic/nightly-broken/ which is strange:p

<cite>@sbook said:</cite> That should be it. The redirect seems to work, and I just set up an explicit one for good measure. Can you provide more detail on what's failing?
Error:

“Checking for updates failed.
Check your network connection, verify that your proxy settings are configured correctly, or try again later.”

<cite>@sbook said:</cite> Yeah it was nice having the server in New York, eh? That said, the update files are just static XML and generated by the build server. That should actually be in EST (but - and you'll hate to sear this - should probably be set to CEST to match the server. The other, better, option is to just set everything to UTC I'd argue).

Sorry for the confusion, but I’m asking for the forum’s posts timestamps.

The links to the scenegraph for dummies and math for dummies are broken in the right panel in the forum
https://wiki.jmonkeyengine.org/legacy/doku.php/jme3:scenegraph_for_dummies
https://wiki.jmonkeyengine.org/legacy/doku.php/jme3:math_for_dummies

I changed my nightly update URL to http://jmonkeyengine.org/updates/nightly/3.0RC2/plugins/updates.xml, but it looks like the latest build is 3.0.0.10632 when the latest revision is 3.0.0.10647… is the build server not up in running yet? :expressionless:

Maybe one day @sbook will grace us with his magnificent reply. :stuck_out_tongue:

This was just a matter of updating the wiki content to point to the tutorial at hub, fixed that.

Build server is not running yet, hence the stale nightly.

This is, unfortunately, not a new problem nor an easy one to tackle as it seems to jump to the innards of WordPress. Interestingly, using “nightlies” gives an expected 404 so perhaps we should stick the downloads there.

A few things…

  • WordPress should now be sending mail correctly
  • I've set up nightly.jmonkeyengine.org to serve the static nightly files.
  • I've set up updates.jmonkeyengine.org to serve the SDK update center files.

Okay, I’ll update the links in the SDK but this’ll have to happen anyway for release 8)

Sorry, forgot to address this one in my mass reply above… Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t offer per-user timezones.

Aha!

I found the culprit that is throwing an error when trying to manually checking for updates!

It’s the NBAndroid Updates URL: http://kenai.com/projects/nbandroid/downloads/download/updatecenter/updates.xml

Read the readme file at this address:
https://kenai.com/projects/nbandroid/downloads

The download section at kenai.com is now obsolete!!!

Please look at NameBright - Coming Soon to see
how to install NBAndroid plugin.

Hopefully one day we will live in a world where Project Kenai is finally given up on

Since I don’t use Android at all it’s not a problem for me. I just disabled the thing. shrug

Any news on the nightly build availability?

@normen @sbook ?

I think @normen wanted to start with a fresh operating system for the build server… I’ll have to talk with him and see what to set up.

by the way if server os is linux i can help with that  also can help with wordpress

The version of linux that used to work on our web server with mingw intact @sbook ^^

That might have been 10.10, which is ancient and wasn’t an LTS so finding proper packages for it will be tough. Now that we have no load on the server I’m installing VirtualBox and we can install whatever makes sense remotely
