Some forums removed, some added, some renamed

As part of our on-going effort to clarify our code contribution practices, a big part of which is to make plugins the gold standard for contributing new features to the engine, we’ve made some changes to the forum that will have some impact.

“Free Announcements” has been retired. Posts have been moved into “User & Code Projects”.

“Features” has been retired. Posts have been moved to “Development Discussion (jME3)”

“User & Code Projects”

Now the be all end all for anything user-made related to jME3, be it for showcasing or collecting constructive feedback. This is not the place to propose additions or changes to the engine, but anything posted here may of course be made into a plugin at a later stage.

“Community Plugins”

A new forum created to facilitate new plugin submissions from the community at large. Announce new plugins, post plugin code for review and request access to the plugins repository. (For discussions about how to create and submit a plugin in the first place, please use the SDK forum).

“Patch Depot”

To be more clear about this forum’s purpose, we’ve renamed the “Contribution Depot” to the “Patch Depot”. This should make it obvious what kind of contribution we expect in this forum, and it also denounces the “Contributor” term as something programmer-specific, which it is not.

In summary:

“Free Announcements” - removed

“Freatures” - removed

“User Code & Projects” - unchanged

“Community Plugins” - NEW!

“Patch Depot” - renamed from “Contributions Depot”

That seems much clearer, nice changes

So if you want to start a topic about a game you’re programming, should it now be posted in User Code & Projects?

Yes, now 1 forum for everything, instead ofboth Free Announcements and this other forum. Easier now, I must say.

Yup!
