StandardGame, Buzz Words, and Monkey Vomit

What do these all have in common?  Yes, that’s right, the next tutorial by darkfrog:

I will be adding more advanced examples later, but for now hopefully that will appease some people that keep bugging me.

I’m extremely disappointed, I was hoping coupling “mindshare” and “monkey vomit” would get more of a response.

Oh well, I guess you can’t win them all.  :’(

While by no means an expert in anything 3d, I'm having success using StandardGame, GameState, and GameTaskQueueManager in organizing my code.  My game won't be anything worth looking at for a while, but I thought I'd put in my 2 cents (or monkeyvomit as it may be valued)…

GameStates just felt natural to me once I started using them.  (Wow… couldn't leave that any more open to "interpretation" by those who hang around here.)

Jim

On another note, good tutorial! I just read it, was easy to understand.

Maybe you should add a link to a java thread tutorial that explains the need for callable.

wooyay, good idea and an…interesting picture…I typically try to go for word pictures instead of actual ones…now I remember why.  :stuck_out_tongue:

word pictures... like ascii porn or braille playboy?

j/k :D

I'll leave that one alone.  :-o

Hy darkfrog,

it's long ago that i have played with jME (a year or so), but if i would find enough

sparetime to dive into jME (again), i'm shure i would find your tutorials very helpful!

So if you are willing to write more of these welcome turorials, please go on 8)

Good documentation is very important!

Thank you for your time and effort!

justin

justin,

Thanks, I really need to start spending as much time writing tutorials for my own projects (like JGN) so unless something is specifically requested around here I probably won't be doing too many more in the near future.

I'll make sure and post my JGN tutorial links here too though.

PS - I'm running openSuSE 10.2 and it's AWESOME!

amazing: you attempt to hijack your own thread!  XD

…I just happened to notice in his signature it says SuSE 9.3 and so I decided to comment.

What's wrong with thread hijacking anyway? You people make it sound…so distasteful like plane hijacking or something.  :stuck_out_tongue:

who do you mean by "you people"? i never said something about thread hijacking being bad. :stuck_out_tongue:

edit: typo  ://

"you people" is how I stereotype people together…though many people claim it to be a core feature of racism, but I just find it easier when mocking people to lump them together so as better to infuriate them. ;)  It's particularly fun when they have no idea what group they're being lumped into.

Hijacking a hijacked thread talking about thread hijacking…this could quickly turn paradoxical…

you mean recursive :)

Infinite Recursion = Paradoxical.

Infinite Recursion == Program hangs != Paradoxical :stuck_out_tongue:

How about we just agree a Recursive Paradox can be Paradoxical Recursion!

now that's something !

Not necessarily so as you can have a single recursion that is paradoxical, but it wouldn't be paradoxical recursion unless it was infinitely creating more recursion.  :P
