I came up with a new idea for my game Unga Munga: composing the selection criteria by combining symbols. And I would like to test how this works on you by showing you some sentences and asking you to guess what it says.
First about the game: Unga Munga is a game in which you train the brains of a bunch of caveman to enable them to survive and develop. The cave men need to learn how to deal with floods, harsh winters, mammoths, hunger and rivaling tribes. They are each equiped with a real neural network and they evolve by selecting the smartest specimen for reproduction. By what criteria they are selected is up to the player.
Let me give a hint: The criteria can all be read as sentences with an subject, a verb, an object and a location. For instance this one means: “me move sheep to leader”
Attack is correct. And enemy too. It is not an entire village, it is just the guy who they hate. They start hating someone after the other guy attacks them or he steals from the village.
The full sentence is “Me attack with stones my enemy”
This training criterion can be used to learn the cave men to defend against attackers. It might also lead to them getting vengeful and keep hunting down enemies above anything else. Which is not helpful at all, so the player should train on this behavior too much.
I admit it is hard to guess. I posted this challenge to find out if the cave painting pictograms are recognizable enough. Players will, of cause, get some introduction on how to use them. So thanks for this feedback.
