But Nightly Build != v1.0, or is the development stopped?

The development is very active, I can assure you… Maybe the nightly build has stopped, but I don’t think so. You are right, nightly build is not the release version:

But I would encourage you to actually go with the CVS version of it, since many bugs have been patched.

Yeah I'd recommend setting up eclipse so you can compile a new version whenever you need it - there are patches and features being applied on a fairly frequent basis.  I remember looking at the 1.0 version, and the documentation that goes with it - and it was missing a number of methods that are present in the current build.
