Adding "nodes" to a blender model?

I have made a model of a ghost (see avatar) and when I use it in JME I would like to add two glowing eyes, for example with particle effects inside JME.

The particle effects would not be part of the model but I was thinking maybe I can create something on the mesh or on the armature, that I can later use to “attach” the lights.

For exampe, creating a bone for each eye position, can I then use the bones to stick my particle generator to, and have it move along with the ghost character?

Sure, theres bone tracks for that, theres a video in the sdk manual / wiki about how to edit them in the SDK.
