How to do this metal shader in jme WITHOUT shader ?!

Hi people !



I found an interesting 3d Java applet :

This metal effect is very interesting because it works on my old ATI Radeon 9200se which doesn’t support any pixel shader.



I want to do the same effect in jme but I don’t know how  :frowning:



I tried some chrome textures applied with a spherical reflection scheme but it was not as beautiful as this applet.

Does anybody have an idea on the used technology ?


I think it works because it is doing software rendering, but I could be wrong.



It looks like a quite blurry environment texture, plus some bump or normal mapping?
