This is a seriously awesome offer, and every one in their right mind should take advantage of it:

Disclaimer: The jMonkeyEngine project was asked to make a mention of this in exchange for a couple extra free books thrown in, but seriously, I would have mentioned this anyways.

Seems the site is getting choked under the rampaging hordes of nerds at the moment though. Can’t search for titles I might be interested in :frowning:

I had a look, found some books that looked interesting…but as you say site is dying. Not going to try registering while it’s like this.

Any idea what the surprise gift actually is? It doesn’t actually say anywhere so it could be anything really…

I could do with a Blender book. Youtube tutorials and me flailing around only goes so far

Ahh, I just found a clearer description:

Register for a new account or sign in using your current Packt account between the 28th and 30th of September, and you will be able to access PacktLib for free for seven days. During this time, you can choose a free eBook from Packt's entire catalog. It's yours to keep forever.

Not bad :)

imma make 1000 accounts, get their whole collection, and then sell them all for a cheaper price

Good luck with that. Their website is so overloaded I’m struggling to make one :stuck_out_tongue:

yeh this was a nifty marketing idea. Get mass exposure, and give away no product!

Woo, I’m registered o/

same, registered!

Yeah, I guess it was more popular than they expected, now they have a “register and we’ll get back to you” page. Can we preorder the jMonkey book with this deal?

Yeh, like kd12 said, it would be nice to have jME book.

should all be working now! im currently browsing the PackLib (Free access for 1 week to view all books) (although still seems quite slow)

Share any books, you think are good for game design, Java, or anything that looks interesting!

i haven’t checked them yet but:

OpenGL 4 Shading Language CookBook

Blender3D Basics (2012)

Google Sketchup for Game Design

Java 7 New Features Cookbook

Blender 2.5 character animation cookbook

Blender 2.5 Materials and Textures cookbook

EDIT: I decided to download “The Blender 2.5 character animation cookbook”. The download was super fast, which is good (file was around 7MB)

“OpenGL 4.0 Shading Language Cookbook [eBook]” yeah, exactly.
