Probably a newbee question but how would you manage a terrain with some arches or tunnels ? Height maps won't do it obviously.
Is modeling (with blender for instance) the way ? Then would it be possible to use some kind of LOD ?
Or maybe an height map for the terrain then "moutain" models on top of it ?
It's for a strategy game. My aim is to render a "ground control 2" style of terrain with arches/short tunnels.
I had a similar issue and the concensus was combine both to get your result…for the time being
